Veteran Homestead Exemption

A program of Cuyahoga County Fiscal Officer

You can get a reduction in your property taxes if you qualify. The first $50,000 of your home's value is exempted from taxes. Staff will answer your questions and help you fill out the forms you need.

Who can use it
You can apply if you are a veteran who was honorably discharged and is 100% disabled due to a service-connected disability. You can also apply if you are 18 or older and permanently disabled, or if you are the spouse (age 59 or older) of a deceased veteran who had this exemption.

What to expect
You can apply online, call, or walk in during office hours. You can also ask to have a form mailed to you. Applications must be filed by December 31st of the year you are applying. If you already get this exemption and have moved, you need to fill out a transfer form with your new address during the application period.
