Kinship Permanency Incentive Program (Kpip)

A program of Cuyahoga County Department Of Children And Family Services

This program gives short-term payments to relatives who have permanent legal custody of a child. You can get $525 per child at first, then $300 per child every six months. You can get up to eight payments total. This is not emergency help.

Who can use it
You can apply if you have permanent legal custody of a child under 18 who lives with you. You must live in Cuyahoga County. Your household income cannot be more than 300% of the federal poverty level. Having Power of Attorney or being an adoptive parent does not qualify.

What to expect
Call to ask for an application. You can leave a message with your name, phone number, and address. Staff will mail you the application. You must complete a home study, which includes a criminal background check with fingerprints for all adults in the home and a safety check of your house. You need to reapply every six months to keep getting payments. Help is not immediate and is not guaranteed.
